A reader has submitted a new timeshare scam alert about a timeshare marketing company operating out of Longwood, Florida under the name Summit Marketing Inc. or SMA Timeshare. The reader was concerned because the marketer required a large upfront fee ($900) but claimed to be affiliated with a number of respected organizations and businesses including the American Resort Development Association. The telemarketer also allegedly made claims of having waiting corporate buyers for her timeshare.
Another logo showing on the Summit Marketing website was that of a respected timeshare closing agent operating out of Vero Beach, Florida- Timeshare Transfer, Inc. I am very familiar with this closing agent, so called them to discover if they had any affiliation with Summit Marketing or endorsed them in any way. A representative for Timeshare Transfer Inc. stated without hesitation that they have absolutely no affiliation with the possible scam, and were in fact unaware that their logo was being used. I also left a message for a representative of ARDA, but have not yet gotten a response. If you believe that you have been the victim of a timeshare marketing scam perpetrated by Summit Marketing Inc or SMA Timeshares, please take the time to report the crime to the Florida Attorney General by clicking HERE. As always, fully research any timeshare marketing company before doing business with them or paying any type of upfront fee to sell or rent an unwanted timeshare. Upfront fees are consistently one of the top reported consumer complaints in the state of Florida. If the possible timeshare scam claims to be affiliated with any other known or respected organizations, always take the time to contact the well known company to determine if their images are simply being used without permission. If the con artists are untruthful about their affiliations, you can be assured that everything else they promise is also a lie! Vacation-Times.org provides timeshare related consumer services including free fraud alerts, timeshare classifieds, trusted timeshare rentals, and referral services for timeshare resale brokers and title companies.

All this possible scam alert posts are obviously posted by their competitors. I signed up with SMA Timeshare, being skeptical as I am but I just want my timeshare gone or at least being rented rather than me wasting money on it. It's hard to get rid of i know but i'm giving credit to this company for making use of my timeshare even though it wasn't as fast I expect it to be (around 4 weeks time).

did you pay the 600??? The same offer was made to me... the BBB in Florida for Orlando gives them an A rating with 6 complaints... should I do it? I received a phone from sma timeshare months ago about renting my property at the PGA merchandise show. I was promised from one Ryan Keith . I never received anything they are a complete scam and a lie. I looked up Ryan Keith's license number through the state of Florida telemarketing website his real name is Ryan Sullivan which he committed a third degree felony for using a fake name. I would also like to inform you never pay anything up front with these shill companies. Please don't let yourself fall for the same lies that I did. I am in the process of contacting the state of Florida to investigate these crimes.

Summit Marketing is owned and run by Martin Apell, who is ALSO a co-owner of Global Prospects (located in Port Charlotte, FL)..Both of these companies are downright scams. My advice is to google them, learn what you can, and report them on websites such as this one, RipOff Report, etc. Also, get your phone # onto the Do Not Call list.

These guys want $1498 to register our unused time for which they will rent it out for several hundred a week so some time share company can sucker someone else into buying a timeshare. ..translation ..please sent us a $1498 contribution to our retirement fund. You in return will get a headache.

I was also contacted from the same 855 phone number about our timeshare in Aruba. After listening to their proposed ability to rent my unit and send us a check for nearly $7 thousand dollars for our unused weeks and accumulated points, we agreed to electronically sign a contract and pay $1499 up front as marketing and misc fees. The sales people that I have dealt with (three so far) have been very personable and polite. The problem is that after reading about "rip off" and "scam" postings concerning SMA, I have become extremely wary, and feel like I should cancel this contract ASAP before I lose the $1499. I was told that we had a ten day period to cancel for any reason. I called the sales person and told her to cancel the contract, and the reason why is because I have read so many negative posts, and repeatedly see that I should have seen the ref flags the second they asked for money up

Front. They INSIST that any scam or fraud postings are fabricated by competitors, and are completely untrue. They urged me to do some investigating on a man named "Ed Magedson" and it will learn that it is HE ALONE who posts every negative blog about companies that don't pay for his silence. I don't know what to believe now! I told them I would take the weekend to decide, but I am very apprehensive about possibly losing my $1499.

Really nice lady [Stephanie C] of Summit Marketing d.b.a. SMATimeshare.com gave me similar pitch yesterday - that for $1599 "registration" they would advertise 1-4 of the 12 RCI Extra Vacation Program [EVP] Weeks each RCI owner gets. When they rent them, I get $1100 back per week. I entered into the contract with my VISA card. Then I started researching on the internet ... wow LOTS of "SCAM" reports.
