A new possible timeshare scam alert was just reported warning consumers about another business attempting the telemarketing scam promising to rent "unused" RCI getaways for thousands of dollars. The consumer did a great job of vetting the fraud attempt, but I wanted to share their report since this same scam has been active for years. It was first reported on this website back in 2012 Click HERE to read! One of the most troubling issues with this scam is that RCI is aware of these telemarketers and seminars which pretend to be either affiliates of, or partners with, the exchange company. After years of these scams taking advantage of RCI members, little has been done by the exchange companies to protect or even simply warn their members. It would seem a simple solution to create a system where a member could notify RCI, prompting a standard cease-and-desist letter and a warning published to their members. As always, stay up to date with free timeshare scam alerts and keep yourself protected from timeshare related telemarketing scams!
".... I just got a call from someone claiming to be with RCI and they want me to sell me "6 weeks of getaways" with them for a guaranteed $1400-$1800 per week but it would cost me $399 per each week! They proceeded to send me to their "specialist" and she gave me a website to look at www.corphousingsys.com where it makes it look legit but I am NOT that stupid!!! I will NOT give them any money. FUNNY THING IS I NO LONGER EVEN HAVE A TIMESHARE WITH RCI!!!! ..." Did this alert help you? If so, please consider donating one dollar to help fund this website! Corporate Housing Systems called claiming they are company that works with RCI to rent time shares to large events and executives. They state they want to access Getaway weeks which require us to activate at $399 per week. Then pay you $1600 per week once rented. Guarantee rental within 180 days but most likely 60-90 days. Said everything was going to be sent in a contract but asked for credit card info. Advised wanted to see paperwork first; she said they had to have it to put on contract. Would not use it until we signed and there was a recording which attested to that which was legally binding. Advised I was not giving VV info over phone. She offered to call back another time to go ever everything in detail. Don't expect to hear back.

I received a call yesterday (11/9/2020) from a reasonably well-spoken individual claiming to be with Vacation Property Rentals, offering to pay me $1800 per week for my 4 "unused Interval International Getaway weeks". All I had to do was "activate" them, by paying $1799. He said that 60-90 days later, I would receive a check for $7200 ($1800 x 4 weeks) guaranteed. I asked to see contract details up front, but they wouldn't do so until I submitted a form of payment to include in the "official Docusign contract". If I didn't sign, no charges would be made. I wasn't so confident, so I did a search and found this article. I think I will pass on this all-too-good-sounding offer!

I just got a similar call from same company. My fraud radar knew something was odd when they ask for money upfront which is always a red flag. Thanks for posting.

I just got a call from World Timeshare Club requesting that I would get $1400 for each week. They said I had 6 weeks and each week would be $399 to active and I would get a return profit of so and so amount. This would take 60-90 days and then you will receive payment. Definitely sounded good, but I'm not the owner on the RCI account and they couldn't provide me the name of my wife that is on the account. Please don't fall for this scam or else you'll be out $399+ depending on how many weeks you decide to pay for.

Another company name used appears to be Global Property Services. I received a call from "Global Property Services" pushing the same up front investment with a credit card with "guaranteed" payment by 180 days.

I received this exact same pitch to use 8 Getaway Timeshare weeks and I would make $1600 a week. Very articulate woman and then a man. Not a lot of pressure. Very reasonable. The website they sent me to was beautiful www.goldmembersclub.com. I can see why people get hooked. I was ready to do it. I only became skeptical when he wanted to charge my VISA. The phone number they gave was from Tampa 813 387-6940. I said to let me research and call me tomorrow. Thank you for posting the scam alert.

Just received the same "offer" as many previously posted. I was skeptical but intrigued since their explanation sounded reasonable. Told them I would have to discuss with my husband and the agent (Daniel) said they would call back later today. The push for a credit card BEFORE seeing an email with details should have clued me, but like I said, the pitch sounded so reasonable. Decided to do some research and am very glad I did. Hopefully they will not call back!

This scan is still alive and well as of 5/20/2022. In my state you can legally record the phone call without them knowing. I recorded the call and sent it to some friends at the FBI. Such a scam! NEVER give your credit card to ANYONE who calls you.
